I decided to remove the comments section on my blog.
Don’t get me wrong, I love getting comments from readers. It’s that I was getting so few comments that it was messing with my head. I found myself wondering things like: “Is anybody reading this?” and, “Why isn’t anybody commenting?” These types of errant thoughts can often derail me.
In my heart, I know the hard answers to those questions. Which are: No. Almost nobody is reading my blog. And those that do read don’t like to leave comments. It’s that simple.
It’s OK though. I’m fine if nobody reads my blog. The intrinsic value I get out of writing every day makes blogging worth it for me.
So instead of wasting more energy thinking about my inactive comments section, I’ll spend more time actually making more stuff. I removed the comments section and I doubt I will ever bring it back.
Things will be better this way. I win because I’ll make more stuff, and you’ll win because there will be more of my stuff for you to consume.
Much like social media “likes”, the number of blog comments is a vanity metric anyways. Who the fuck cares how many comments I have? It doesn’t matter.

The comments section may be gone but you can still get in touch with me any time you want (which I highly encourage). I am here for you!
Goodbye, blog comments. I’m sorry things didn’t work out. It’s not you, it’s me.
