New Song: There Can Be Only One

It’s the first day of the new year. And what better way to kick off 2025 than with a new Mike Votava song.

This is my latest jam “There Can Be Only One”.  It is a song inspired by the greatest movie in the universe that was ever made of all time. The 1986  epic sci-fi classic “Highlander”.

“There Can Be Only One” is the 9th song of my latest album One In A Row. It might be the best track yet. It features Rick Weber on drums, Ken Nottingham on upright bass, and Nick Droz on lap steel and dobro.

There Can Be Only One
by Mike Votava

There is lightning in the background adding tension to the scene
two men are fighting with katanas in the time of the gathering

There can be only one

Do you want to live forever?
face your immortality
protect your noggin
don’t get severed
and embrace the Quickening

There can be only one

You might be an immortal but you’re dieing inside
just because you are living doesn’t mean you’re alive
