A few weeks ago I was invited to stop by EchoBlast Studio to record a couple of tunes. EchoBlast is run by Nick Wichman, Rich Pagillo and Megan Wichman. It’s operated out of the basement of their Greenwood area house. It’s a cool little set up featuring a control room and small soundproof studio room. They claim the room is big enough for full band. I believe them but it would be a tight fit.
I first met Nick and Rich at a show weeks prior at Cafe Racer (R.I.P).
They created a place where local artist can quickly record live video performances. Once we got started, it took me less than an hour to lay down two songs. That includes a couple of takes that I screwed up on and had to redo. A couple weeks later, they sent me the fully edited videos.
All I had to do was show up, play a couple songs and WALLLAAAA — I got a couple sweet pieces of content that I can share with everyone. How cool is that?!!
The first song is called Two Thumbs Up. It’s a love song that doesn’t really sound like a love song.
The other song is called Stuck There. It’s a song inspired by the book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. It’s about being aware of the possibility that something bad might happen, and trying to make the best of it.
I’m really excited about how these turned out. I’m looking forward to hitting up EchoBlast Studio again some time next year.
And if any of you artists/musician types out there are interested in working with EchoBlast sometime in the near future, feel free to reach out to them.
