It’s Saturday night. I just spent the last hour of my life on a Toni Braxton YouTube deep dive because what else would I be doing.
I came across a live performance from 1999 of her number one song “Unbreak My Heart”. How do I know it’s her number one song? I know because Toni mentions it during the introduction.
She then goes on to invite the packed house to sing along with her.
Why, Toni? Why?!! Why would you do such a thing? You’re breaking my heart when you should be unbreaking it. Don’t you see what you’ve done?! What a disaster.
If I was at this show and I had to listen to the drunk idiots next to me belt out the chorus of “Unbreak My Heart” over Toni Braxton’s beautiful voice, you know how mad I would be?!! Super fucking mad! On a scale of 1 -10, where 1 is the least mad and 10 is the most mad, I’d be 500,000.
Goddammit! I’m getting mad right now just thinking about it. When did “Unbreak My Heart” become sing-a-long? Is this amateur karaoke hour? Fucking bullshit! What the fuck?!
Also, what happened to the second verse? Huh, Toni? You think you can just skip a verse willy-nilly style whenever you feel like it. What the hell is going on?
